About premenstrual dysphoric disorder

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder is a mood disorder linked to the cycle. It happens in the week before a period and improves in the first days after bleeding starts, with sudden mood changes, irritability, angry outbursts, sadness or anxiety, and a clear impact on daily life. It differs from premenstrual syndrome in severity and in the type of symptoms: premenstrual syndrome is mostly physical discomfort and milder mood changes, whereas here strong emotional symptoms dominate, along with tiredness, sleep problems and difficulty concentrating.
